New York Engagement Photographer | Prospect Park | Vanessa + Kenny

Engagement

Vanessa and Kenny’s relationship goes waaaay back, like high school back.  And then it stops.  And then it starts again.  But before I get into that, let me set the scene: we got our schedules in sync to photograph their engagement session right around the corner from their home in Brooklyn not long before their wedding.  There were ideas swirling around about where we should go and what we should do but we decided to keep it simple and wander around Prospect Park.

These two are fantastic together.  If there were any jitters of being in front of the camera, my lens certainly didn’t see them.  They felt like old friends who invited me for a night out to play.

They were high school sweethearts and parted ways after a few years as usually happens.  But they remained friends because their friend group was so close.  They dated other people, experienced the world independently, and eventually fell back into one another’s lives romantically.  As they put it, they’re “really glad the relationship happened as it did.  We have a shared history but developed individual thoughts and identities that still worked out together later.”

Kenny says he always knew she was the one he would marry.

It was while Vanessa was in Connecticut for work, sitting in her pjs and eating a sandwich in her hotel room bed, that Kenny called to tell her that he missed her.  And that he was at her hotel.  He had brought the letters she had written him when they were teenagers.  And a ring.

They are a fabulous pair together and had a ridiculously off-the-wall wedding that you’ll see very soon!

Princeton, NJ Engagement Photographer | Casey + Eric
It’s the age old love story. She was a nurse; he was a resident. She had her eyes on him and asked if he wanted to go out one night. They went to Triumph Brewery in Princeton, down the street from the hospital, and conversation was so easy. The date that night and all of them since them have been so good that they’ll be celebrating their wedding next month at Knowlton Mansion in Philadelphia. These two have a thing for cooking that made me want to invite myself over to their place for dinner. Casey apparently makes a pretty mean mac and cheese and can rock some pancakes. Eric’s got the omelets. They made a rack of lamb for Valentine’s D ...

Philadelphia Engagement Photographer | Drexel University | Abby + Ryan
You see some people gazing at each other and you can tell that they’re still in the total puppydog phase. You know what I’m talking about – the smittenness that happens in the first few months or year of dating. The thing is, sometimes I see the same adoration in my couples during the engagement session after they’ve known each other for, say, 5.5 years. I saw this with Abby and Ryan. These two met at a party while they were at school at Drexel University. They played a game of ping pong (which Abby won!) and I suppose it’s been googly eyes ever since. We did their engagement session at the location of their courtship: Drexel’s campus. You k ...

Philadelphia Engagement Photographer | Race Street Pier | Denise + Mike
Denise and Mike met one fateful night in Vegas seven years ago. Their story defies the rule: what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. She was there with a bunch of girlfriends to blow off steam and he was there went to celebrate his friends’ MCAT completion. They flirted during that first encounter and met up the next evening to watch the fountain show at the Bellagio. They exchanged numbers and that was that.Until Mike called. She lived in Boston and he was outside of Philly. These phone calls started happening every night and thus began a long distance relationship that lasted for two years. Friends referred to him as ‘Vegas Mike’. One ...
