Delco Newborn Photographer | Media Home | Mara

Family

Julia’s water broke at a friend’s barbecue.  Not very polite, Julia.  After some laboring, pushing was only 15 minutes and then there was Mara (vs. 2.5 hours with big brother, James).

I met her when she was about 1 month old, sweet as can be.  I have known Matt and Julia for years after photographing their engagement session, Julia’s boudoir, and wedding many years ago.

Matt found the name Mara and they were sold.  Julia might credit The Crown for Mara’s middle name, Elizabeth.  It’s a gorgeous name.

Little Mara makes great snortle sounds and cute baby sighs when she loses a sneeze.

Mara’s nursery was James’ old space but with some new details included a wall that Julia ombre’d when she was 7 months pregnant.

My biggest problem with Julia was the fact that she was wearing real jeans – with a zipper and everything! – just one month after birth.  Who does that?!

This tiny peanut has a rocking mom, hilarious dad, and a doting big brother.  This is one lucky kid!

Philadelphia Maternity Photographer | Sheila
While my job ranks waaay up there for best in the world, there might be one or two that beat it.  I can only imagine the magic that comes from being a midwife like Sheila.  The relationships made and the end result, a larger family, must be incredible to witness. I photographed Sheila and Sanjay’s engagement session and weddings (yes, plural) a few years back and I was overjoyed to hear that they were expecting a little “Shejay” this spring.  It was fabulous reconnecting with them and peppering her with questions about what it’s like to be on this side of the belly. We shot their maternity session at their home in Queen Village, ...

Family Portraits in Woodside
I had a great time with the White family yesterday at the lot of their new home in Woodside. They have a great piece of land for a house that will come to fruition within the next two years. They thought it was a great place for family portraits and it was one of the few occasions that their four children were all in one place at the same time. The siblings are spread out from Atherton to LA to Scotland. On their property there's a wooded area with redwoods and you'd never even know that anyone else is around (with the exception of the occasional tennis match sounds). The nature around was beautiful and the sun was coming through at just the ...

Family Session on Ballena Isle, Alameda
Ack, so much to do, so little time. Isn't that always the case for the holidays? I have quite a few posts to catch up on – including an envy-inducing one from my travels in Cancun this month. But first, I want to share with you a family shoot from last week. This was such a fun family. I mean it. They were up for most anything. I offered them my list of fun San Francisco spots but they realized that there's no place that feels better for them than their own back yard – Ballena Isle in Alameda. They are self proclaimed avid sailors and live right on the marina. I showed up a bit early to take a look around and they were so right. It was ...
