Lindsay Goes to Europe

Personal

I wanted to put some more stamps in my passport before wedding season showed up in full force. I guess I put the right messages out to the universe because I had a phone call Thursday morning with a friend in Europe and everything aligned. I booked a flight and I’ll be leaving tonight for Paris, Frankfurt, Lyon, and Zurich. (Or thereabouts.)

I’m thrilled and panicked. I’m a total planner and this last minute madness is making my head spin. I don’t know the language, the sights, or the customs. I didn’t even have the time to check the weather over there til yesterday (freaking freezing, by the way!). My plan is to have a croissant in Paris (I will also be demanding pigeons and someone to walk by in a beret), beer out of a big stein in Frankfurt, and chocolate in Switzerland. Everything beyond those goals will be icing on the cake. Any suggestions?

I’ll be gone just over a week and should be sufficiently jetlagged but giddy by the time I get back. I’ll be returning calls and emails by February 7th. I’ll be late on getting the February Desktop Images up so please forgive me but get excited for the Best of 2011 Contest that will be starting once I return.

Wish me luck on this whirlwind tour!

Europe trip

Au revoir,
Lindsay

Goodbye, DOMA!
Today is an extraordinary day for the United States. This morning, the Supreme Court struck down keys parts of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and declared that same-sex couples who are legally married deserve equal rights to the hundreds of benefits under federal law that go to all other married couples.I keep my political opinions to myself when it comes to this blog but I feel that such a monumental ruling on LOVE has a special place here.My life is surrounded by love and weddings and it’s incredible. That we could even think of denying rights to gay couples is an atrocity. 12 states and DC offer marriages for all committed couples; ...

Big News for LDP
I've been blogging my photo adventures for over a year now and I've reached my 100th post! I'm taking this special occasion to share some very exciting news for Lindsay Docherty Photography… I'm moving to Pennsylvania! That's right, my west coast days are coming to an end and I'll be making the move in December and going back to where I grew up on the "Main Line" right outside of Philadelphia. There are obviously a few cons to this decision. I hate, hate, HATE cold weather and I'll be showing up just in time for blizzard season. Bleh! The hardest part will be saying goodbye to all the good friends I've made during my stay here and al ...

I Ran to Stop MS
Yesterday I ran the first race of my life – Philadelphia's half marathon. It was completely exhilarating. The crowds were awesome and my mix totally kept me going. I was singing (or at least mouthing the words) through most of the run. The end result is one small blister and a whole lotta pride. I can't wait to do it again. Maybe a marathon; who knows? My time was 1:51:53! I ran it in under 2 hours (a secret goal).I want to thank the following people for donating to stop MS, a cause that is very close to my heart.Julie & Coye CheshireTim MahoneyKaren & Paul HarrisRich WhiteLauren HancockLiz BrennanLinda DemmlerEllie & Ali Ja ...
