Engagement

Question: Who likes peacoats and is the subject of my current couple crush?
Answer: Lauren and Chris.

These two met online back in 2008 and had a first date. Fast forward to 2010 and they shared another first date. This time the dates never stopped. Their happiness with each other is infectious. They say that they laugh with each other more than anyone else. They are completely playful together and have the perfect combination of seeming like they have known each other for 100 years and still being head over heels for each other.

Chris travels for business frequently. When he comes back to their home in Baltimore they revel in domesticity: TV, chores, bike rides, restaurants…

They came up for their engagement session in Rittenhouse Square the other week. The three of us in our patriotic peacoats took over the place and I fell in love. With them.

Chris informed me that the changing colors of the fall trees is due to the sugar concentration of the leaves when the summer lights stops dropping off and giving way to autumn. The higher the glucose levels, the more red/orange the pigment. Did I get that right, Bill Nye?

Chris is notoriously bad about remembering things like birthdays and anniversaries. This often results in last minute notes of “happy birthday” on post-its. This is now a thing. They found this ring while in Miami together and both knew that it was the one. Chris ordered it soon after. Chris didn’t like the idea of a public proposal. One night after she had already fallen asleep, Chris work Lauren up with a box and a post-it asking for her hand in marriage.

I’m pretty sure that our walks around the gorgeous houses in the Rittenhouse neighborhood might be convincing them to move up to the city of brotherly love. Fingers crossed.

Lauren and Chris will be married next September at her parents’ place in Maryland. I can’t wait to see them again. I have a feeling that their wedding with be absolutely incredible!

When you kissed my lips with my mouth so full of questions
It’s my worried mind that you quiet
Place your hands on my face
Close my eyes and say
Love is a poor man’s food
With no proper side
I could hold you in my arms
I could hold you forever
And I could hold you in my arms
I could hold you forever

Philadelphia Engagement Photographer | Kelly Drive | Sophie + Ben
Sophie was given fair warning about Ben.  He lived across the country and neither felt “the spark” on the first date.  Call it fate or just plain perseverance but they’re getting married at the end of the month in what I’m certain will be an incredible and emotional day. I walked around with them through a lush little park on Kelly Drive on a sunny day. The two met online.  Ben was living in California but working in DC for long stretches at a time so it made sense to look into what the east coast had to offer.  He contacted Sophie but, with no profile pictures, there was no response.  You can’t blame him for trying for this g ...

[the value of] an Engagement Session
I love, love, love shooting e-sessions. A lot of people have heard me go on and on about this before, but I really mean it – engagement pictures are so worthwhile for many reasons…1) The connection. Wedding days are busy and your photographer will be right there throughout the entire thing. They will be your shadow and it's a good idea to get to know them so that you have one less stress on your day. (A good photographer will be a helpful and calming element on your wedding day.) So are you comfortable with this person? Do you even like this person? If you get bad vibes during the engagement session, you can act on it before the big da ...
