Engagement
In the flurry of getting the new website up (you love it? So nice of you to say so!) there was a Society Hall engagement session that you never saw. It’s honestly quite tragic since it was so magically perfect. The weather, light, colors, location, and, oh right, THE COUPLE could not have been better! As a belated treat, I give you Monica and Evan! (Please hold your applause til the end.)
We wandered around some great streets in Society Hill and Old City and ended playfully at the Spruce Street Harbor Park.
These two have been together for 6 years. They met at UCLA through a tutoring program where they were both mentors. The program held a social meetup at a restaurant for the members. There was salsa dancing and Monica had recently been taking lessons. She invited others to play along and Evan was the only one to step up.
Quite the gentleman, Evan gave her a red rose on their first date and has been giving her one every year since on their anniversary.
Monica is stubborn. She resisted the idea that they were in a relationship though it was obvious to everyone else. She kept seeing him and eventually saw it for what it was.
It was at that same restaurant where they met that Evan led her to a table with a yellow rose. There was a musician there playing their song – Elvis’ Can’t Help Falling in Love. After he popped the question he whisked her to a back room where 50 family and friends were waiting for them. They had come from all over the country and Mexico to celebrate.
They’re here while Evan is working on his MBA at Wharton. Their families are in California and they’ll be going west next year for their wedding in Napa. There will be white roses on that day.
I loved being a part of their wedding story. Their playfulness and easy smiles made the great day even better.
Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I can’t help falling in love with you
For I can’t help falling in love with you
~ Elvis Presley, Can’t Help Falling in Love
