While my job ranks waaay up there for best in the world, there might be one or two that beat it. I can only imagine the magic that comes from being a midwife like Sheila. The relationships made and the end result, a larger family, must be incredible to witness.
I photographed Sheila and Sanjay’s engagement session and weddings (yes, plural) a few years back and I was overjoyed to hear that they were expecting a little “Shejay” this spring. It was fabulous reconnecting with them and peppering her with questions about what it’s like to be on this side of the belly.
We shot their maternity session at their home in Queen Village, where they’re planning a home birth.
Sheila’s friends made birth flags with encouraging words and phrases to inspire Sheila through the process.
Sheila looked fantastic. I suppose that’s no surprise as she’s also a Pilates instructor. She was about a week from her due date when we went out but she was feeling great.
Aside from some chickpea cravings, there was nothing crazy to report. (Except that she still had an innie!)
I’m on the edge of my seat waiting to find out the sex and name of their new little nugget. This baby is certainly born to a warm and loving pair of parents.
