Janene and Greg won my heart long, long ago. Individually they’re quirky, kind, genuine, and simply wonderful. Together they’re even more than the sum of the parts. I’m still trying to understand it. They fit together so well. They shine together. During the speeches we heard how easily Janene draws people to her and that it’s pretty much impossible to be mad at her. I won’t even deny that I have massive couple crush on them. Their engagement pictures at Eastern State Penitentiary were just a taste of what was to come from their wedding.
Janene got ready at her parents’ house in Jamison, PA. She wore the earrings that Greg gave her as a wedding gift. Her mom gave her the bracelet that she wore that day. Her something borrowed was her mom’s opal ring that she has loved since she was 7 and has always said that she would wear it on her wedding day.
Meanwhile, the groomsmen were getting ready at the hotel. They donned some spectacular yellow argyle socks. Janene sent over information on a special wedding gift for Greg – his very own old school arcade game!
Their Catholic ceremony was held at St. Cyril Church where Janene worked in the rectory when she was younger.
Get a load of the ring bearer’s adorable sign for Greg!
The light in that church was perfect and I am just smitten with the looks and emotion between them throughout the ceremony.
I just must mention the flowers (from LeRoy’s in Hatboro, PA). Greg’s succulent boutonniere and Janene’s bouquet were so vibrant and unique. Janene memorialized her grandfathers within her bouquet – the WWII dog tags from one and the key to his Cadillac from another.
We headed into Philly’s Old City for the cocktail hour and reception at the Down Town Club. Janene and Greg had prepared some special treats for their guests including Ben Franklin to mix and mingle during cocktail hour.
The ballroom looked fantastic. Janene and friends and family had spent months collecting the lanterns for the centerpieces. The Down Town Club never disappoints with its spectacular views of Philly.
After much back and forth, Janene and Greg finally picked REM’s “At My Most Beautiful” for their first dance. I loooove how they might as well have been the only people in the world to each other during that dance.
Some traditional and nontraditional speeches…
The next guest appearance came from the one and only Philly Phanatic – a surprise to even their parents!
It was a beautiful day with the perfect fun and quirky elements that were so right for Janene and Greg. I love you two. Congratulations times a million!
