Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | Philadelphia City Hall | Sharah + Teddy
Wedding
All of their family is back in Australia but, after 8 years, it was go time. They have traveled all over the world and aren’t nearly done exploring but I was thrilled that they chose me to celebrate this adventure in Philadelphia. There is so much freedom in intimate weddings and elopements are basically engagement sessions with a very important event in the middle.
The September day was beautiful and City Hall was bustling. We met up in time to take pictures in the gorgeous stairwells of the historic building.
We sat in the waiting room with about 8 other couples and their friends and families. Sharah and Teddy thought about having guests but the travel for their closest didn’t make sense for the 4 minute ceremony. They’ll be going back at some point for a celebration. We had the #1 spot and saw the judge in the library. After some introductions, important words, rings, and kiss, they were legit!
The giddiness was evident from Sharah’s hopping around immediately afterwards.
We gave ourselves a tour of the hallways and rooms and found some exceptional spots. Teddy, who has been known to go on some under-the-radar locations to shoot himself, totally got me. Like me, he’s the kind who will try locked doors and venture down alleyways. Sharah is more nervous but always happy in hindsight.
The two were engaged last year in front of the LOVE statue one morning (when it was still in LOVE Park).
The watch Teddy wore belonged to his late father. His Hugo Boss cufflinks were his wedding gift from Sharah. Sharah borrowed earrings and shoes. The necklace was a gift from Teddy and the headband was from a friend.
Before meeting, she had never been out of Australia. Now they’ve seen Lebanon, the US (Alaska, Hawaii, and plenty in between), Thailand, and lived in Canada.
The shouts of congratulations and excitement from passers-by was a blast!
Sharah worked in a jewelry shop and was able to witness her wedding bands being made from blocks of metal to the beautiful, shiny heirloom pieces they are now. Teddy’s is made of 18k gold with platinum bands on either side. Hers has intricate scrollwork and diamonds. Both have their initials and hearts engraved inside.
It was such a joy to wander around with these two, finding squirrels and red doors together. I am, so looking forward to following along with their future adventures!
