Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | Colonial Dames | Laura + Marc

Wedding

They make faces at each other.  They play board games together.  They have hilarious friends.  They make logical decisions.  They DIY’d a million things for their wedding together and LOVED it.  Laura and Marc might not be the most normal couple in the world, but why on earth would you want that anyway?

It was a glorious spring day when Laura and Marc tied the knot at Colonial Dames in Philadelphia.  The date was picked by researching the day least likely to rain in the Farmer’s Almanac.  I kid you not.

Laura got ready at the Warwick Hotel with her bridesmaids.  Her mother’s dress left a dusting of glitter around the room.  This was no problem for Laura.  Glitter is her favorite color.  The dress she wore that day was purchased days (DAYS!) before the wedding.  The original didn’t fit correctly and Laura was too sweet to even say anything to the vendor about it.  The last minute switch seemed to have no effect on her well-being the day of the wedding.  (Note to self: not normal behavior.  Might be alien.  More tests needed.)

The carzy happy couple shared their first look in the verdant courtyard of the sweet, hidden venue in downtown Philly.

The wedding party/army also played.  7 bridesmaids, 12 groomsmen.  I would usually say that such a number is obscene and how can you even know that many people so well?  Then I met Laura and Marc and I wanted to be in the wedding party too.  They are down-to-the-core good people.  Note: superhero cufflinks.

The ceremony with personal vows was lovely.  Laura had everyone in happy tears and not just because she promised to attend every superhero movie premiere with Marc for the rest of their lives.

There were DIY projects galore – a Plinko “guest book,” wedding party info signage, arrows to the main event, a beautiful calligraphed and hot wax-sealed escort card display in card catalogs, a card box, antique key bottle openers, and signage everywhere.

My absolute favorite were the cake toppers that Laura made.  Bask in their glory.

After more humorous/lovely toasts is was time to get down to the real business of the day – the partying.  Legit partying.  Conga-lining, shot-gulping, air guitaring, bacon s’more-eating partying.

Man, I’m lucky to have such couples.  If that’s not cool enough for you, they went to Thailand and Singapore for their honeymoon.  So there’s that.

Somethin’ in your eyes, makes me wanna lose myself
Makes me wanna lose myself, in your arms
There’s somethin’ in your voice, makes my heart beat fast
Hope this feeling lasts, the rest of my life

Carolyn + Jeremy: Philadelphia Wedding at St. Thomas of Villanova and the Down Town Club
“Rain” doesn’t even begin to describe the weather on Carolyn and Jeremy’s wedding day. We’re talking torrential downpour, gale force winds, sheets of water and fierce gusts. A downright tempest.Regardless, Carolyn and Jeremy took it in stride and the day was an absolute blast. If they were phased at all, they didn’t show it. This is the same couple from the engagement session around the Penn campus a few months ago. The day was beautiful, fun, quirky, and hilarious. You’ll see…I started at Carolyn’s parents’ house in Villanova where the ladies were getting ready. Jeremy and the guys were at the Omni Hotel in the city. Carolyn had some ...

Philadelphia Wedding Spotlight | Lovely Bride
Walk inside of the doors of this Old City gem and you’ll have your eyes full of some of the most beautiful frocks this side of the catwalk. This new bridal boutique is absolutely hopping after opening its doors in 2013 with the charismatic and stylish Ivy Kaplin at the helm.  Lovely couldn't be a more fitting name. I stopped by the shop to indulge in the soft frillies – lace, tulle, illusion backs, non-whites, short, feathered, beaded, organza, silk… I could go on and on but that’s not my job. It’s Ivy’s. I asked Ivy if she still gets excited about the dresses and tries them on when the shop is closed. I know I absolutely would. S ...

Philadelphia Wedding Photographer | DoubleTree Hotel | Becca + Nick
If Snow White were real, I’m fairly certain she would look like Becca. Becca was absolutely gorgeous and her wedding to Nick was filled with personal touches, unseasonably warm weather (a few days before Frankenstorm, no less), and a group that knew how to rock it out like it was their job.I arrived at the Philadelphia DoubleTree Hotel to spend time with Becca and the ladies before the ceremony.Dreamy, fluffy, bowed Badgley Mischkas? Yes, please!Nick wrote a note for Becca to read before the ceremony. It included his famous doodles of them. Completely adorable! Please note Becca’s “something blue” toenails and pearls borrowed from her new ...
