Personal

I love April. Sure, there may be a few days of surprises (I don’t think I’ll ever forget Carolyn and Jeremy’s torrential downpour wedding) but we’re finally over this lion/lamb business and will most assuredly see real spring soon.

Do you hear that? Those are birds chirping as I’m typing this. The sun is up in the mornings again. I no longer need to wear 10 layers to go outside. There are buds on everything. The crocuses came up a few weeks ago and I’m seeing daffodils everywhere.

For someone who despises the cold, this is my happy time. The year is turning around and the earth is opening up. I can run outside, I can put away my sweaters, and I can start waking up from this dreary hibernation that takes over in the dark winter months.

As for the upcoming Racherty (Rachlin + Docherty) nuptials, I can finally sympathize with my couples going through wedding planning. This stuff is so stressful! We’ve decided on a country and a general month but not much more. The plan is a super small wedding next July in Italy. How awesome is that?! Destination wedding planning means letting go of control so I’ll likely be updating you every month on my breathing techniques and pasta options that I won’t be able to taste before the big day. Regardless, we’re psyched!

Every month, I feature new images for download for you to use as your Facebook cover photo. I resisted the urge to post pictures of the millions of wedding magazines I have around. Click to download these images and see them at their full size and resolution.

RARE Behind the Scenes Pictures of Clinton and Trump
Considering the Republican Party candidate is a reality TV star and the Democratic candidate has been in the public eye for decades, it’s remarkable how little we know about who they really are.  That’s why it was so gratifying that Lindsay Docherty Photography was granted special access to the candidates while they did something unusual – spent the morning together.  Scroll down to see how well red and blue played with one another. The action between the camera takes is where the punches are thrown.  Trump berated Clinton for being a “Liar, liar, pants on fire!!” and insisted that he would put her in time out if elected.  Clinton held her ...

2012 is going to be big. Really big. Freaking huge!I moved to Philadelphia just 3 years ago and I’ll admit that showing up in December 2008 wasn’t the easiest pill to swallow when re-starting a business in a brand new area (remember that recession that hit in late ’08?). In 2009 I learned about the wedding culture in this area (trust me, there are definite differences between Philly and San Francisco) and started to figure out what was what around here. Things took off after that and now I’m busier than I’ve ever been. I’ve had some of the most incredible couples on the planet. I’ve seen weddings that have blown me away, made me cry (i ...

Click to download it and see it at its huge size and resolution.I visited Valley Forge National Historical Park a few weeks ago on a scouting mission for a project. I went during "golden hour" and the place was list up beautifully. There's really no better time for lovely, sun-drenched pictures than the hour or so before sunset. I try to schedule all of my shoots around this time so that I can get this gorgeous look. Photographers refer to this as "golden hour" or "magic hour". It's easy to see why.Enjoy!*Please note these images are made available ...
