Chester County Engagement Photographer | Longwood Gardens | Alexa + Donny

Engagement

Alexa knew she wanted a country boy. Enter Donny, a guy who grew up on a farm and still has pedicure responsibilities for the goats.

The met online (hooray!) last year and the connection was clear. Their first date was after a shift of hers that ended at 11:45pm. They closed down the restaurant and talked until 2:30am. Conversation was effortless.

He made her laugh on that night in June and he makes her laugh now. We met up at Longwood Gardens for their engagement photography session. Alexa, being the the nontraditionalist that she is, didn’t want Longwood for its impeccable hand-raised flowers. She wanted to use the other parts of Longwood – the fields and greenery.  I have been to Longwood Gardens umpteen times and didn’t even know these parts existed!  So off we went!

It was pretty hot that day but soooo worth it for these clouds and sunshine! They were such troopers, especially Donny in all black. The heat doesn’t really bother him (he’s a country boy, remember). Alexa, however, is more of a princess. She’s not keen on the extremes of either end of the spectrum. I’m so proud of her for rocking it in that denim jacket, long curly hair (yay!), and that awesome mint tulle frock!

Donny had planned the original proposal for New York while ice skating but that terrible February storm messed up his plans. Instead, he went local. Alexa and her mom were eating at Elizabeth’s Pizza when Donny strode up with wine and asked for her hand in marriage.

They are so smitten with each other.

Love it, love it! These two will be married next May in Delaware and I can’t wait to see what funky stuff they have planned!

Young Melanie: What do you want to be married to me for, anyhow?
Young Jake: So I can kiss you anytime I want.

Allow me to introduce Trish, Tom, and Seydou…Trish and Tom met a couple of years ago through a mutual friend. It's a very good thing they hit it off because they began running into each other all the time. They live right across the street from the Philadelphia Art Museum and we spent time wandering around the area close to their house and even kind of recreating the would-be proposal. They brought along their sweet-as-pie pup, Seydou (a name Tom received while he was in the Peace Corps). We started at the azalea garden along Kelly Drive by the Art Museum for some greenery and get some shots at just the perfect time of year for those vibrant ...

Philadelphia Engagement Photographer | University of Pennsylvania | Amanda + Nick
Amanda and Nick met at Albright College about 10 years ago. He was her orientation leader. Turns out their first date was at a birthday party for one of Nick’s fraternity brothers. Things apparently went well because they’ve got a wedding coming up this May at the Trump National Golf Club in Pine Hill, New Jersey. They’ve pretty much lived all over together. He went to graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania and then they took off to Germany together for a few years and then landed in San Diego where they are now. They try to be outdoors together as much as possible, hiking and vitising the beach since they live right by it. We ...
