Personal

2012 is going to be big. Really big. Freaking huge!

I moved to Philadelphia just 3 years ago and I’ll admit that showing up in December 2008 wasn’t the easiest pill to swallow when re-starting a business in a brand new area (remember that recession that hit in late ’08?). In 2009 I learned about the wedding culture in this area (trust me, there are definite differences between Philly and San Francisco) and started to figure out what was what around here. Things took off after that and now I’m busier than I’ve ever been. I’ve had some of the most incredible couples on the planet. I’ve seen weddings that have blown me away, made me cry (in the best possible way), made my heart melt, made me laugh til my stomach hurt, and simply made me say “awwww…”. And I’m pretty sure all of those things will happen again and again in 2012. I’m so thankful to everyone who has helped me since I showed up here – the venues and vendors who trust me and recommend me to their couples, the old friends and family who remind everyone that they know this awesome photographer named Lindsay, the new friends who tell me that they recognize my name and logo and love my work, and my awe-inspiring couples who show me so much love it makes me blush.

Thank you all for welcoming me back to my old home. This is home.

I look forward to 2012 with bright eyes and a bushy tail. I’m mostly booked up for the year and can tell that it’s going to be out of this world!

With this New Year I’m giving you soap! Scrub away any doubts, insecurities, and issues from 2011 and start fresh!

Try, Try to forget what’s in the past
Tomorrow is here

Love, Orange sky above lighting your way
There’s nothing to fear

Birds singing a song
Old paint is peeling
This is that fresh
That fresh feeling

Lindsay Docherty Photography goes to ‘Nawlins
Winter is the time when I can finally breathe again after the madness of fall and the gazillions of weddings that it brings. I use the winter to deal heavily with the advertising/marketing/business end of it all. It’s also when I have the opportunity for professional education. There’s a photography conference in mid-January and I look forward to it every year. This year the Digital Wedding Forum Convention was held in New Orleans. It gathers some of the biggest rock stars of the industry for small classes, shootouts (not nearly as dangerous as it sounds), mentoring sessions, and an all-around good time. A group of us went out and played ...

June Facebook Cover Images
It’s June!I apologize for being a day late but that’s because I was photographing a beautiful wedding yesterday. The couple was awesome but the weather left something to be desired. A very, very hot day in an unairconditioned church and outdoor formals meant a melting bridal party. They were absolute troopers and I feel sooo lucky for them. Some people (*cough* Andy *cough*) would not have been nearly as pleasant in that sun and heat. This leads me to my June Facebook cover images. The first is how I feel just about everyone felt these last few days. As a side note: huge ice cubes are awesome. As for my second image, I know some people ha ...
