My new favorite color: tonight’s sky

Personal

Maybe you were stuck in traffic. Or maybe you were getting the mail. Or maybe you were walking out of the grocery store. Or maybe, like me, you were out on a run. Either way, I really hope you saw tonight’s fantastical, magical sky. Everything was bathed in this warm amber and all of the cooler colors looked supersaturated and dreamlike. I got home and had to get my camera to capture it.

“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.”
~ Rabindranath Tagore

Winter is the time when I can finally breathe again after the madness of fall and the gazillions of weddings that it brings. I use the winter to deal heavily with the advertising/marketing/business end of it all. It’s also when I have the opportunity for professional education. There’s a photography conference in mid-January and I look forward to it every year. This year the Digital Wedding Forum Convention was held in New Orleans. It gathers some of the biggest rock stars of the industry for small classes, shootouts (not nearly as dangerous as it sounds), mentoring sessions, and an all-around good time. A group of us went out and played ...

Sure, there may be a few days of surprises (I don’t think I’ll ever forget Carolyn and Jeremy’s torrential downpour wedding) but we’re finally over this lion/lamb business and will most assuredly see real spring soon.Do you hear that? Those are birds chirping as I’m typing this. The sun is up in the mornings again. I no longer need to wear 10 layers to go outside. There are buds on everything. The crocuses came up a few weeks ago and I’m seeing daffodils everywhere. For someone who despises the cold, this is my happy time. The year is turning around and the earth is opening up. I can run outside, I can put away my sweater ...

I Run to Stop Multiple Sclerosis
Last year I ran to help stop Multiple Sclerosis. It was a truly emotional and gratifying experience which is why I’m doing it again this year. I've been training for the last few months to run two half marathons this year and my very first full marathon in January. I'm doing it to raise money for the prevention, treatment, and cure of MS.Multiple sclerosis isn't fatal. A diagnosis doesn't mean it's time to run through a bucket list. But what it lacks in fatality it makes up for in disability and incredible challenges. It is a chronic, progressive disease.Multiple sclerosis turns the body against itself and attacks healthy parts of the cent ...
