Philadelphia Maternity Photographer | Chestnut Hill | Moira + Brett

Family

Once upon a time I photographed a beautiful couple.  They married in a magical place called Holly Hedge Estate with beautiful flowers and a crowd that danced all night long.  They live in Chestnut Hill with a cranky cat named Piper and I had the fortune of being brought into their lives again.  This time for a bump.

Moira and Brett are due sometime this month so I met up with them at their Philly home for some maternity pictures.

They don’t know the sex and aren’t telling names (it would help if they chose some!) but most are pretty certain that Moira has a boy in there and has been going by RJB for RickyJimBob.

This sweet belly button used to be super deep, now it’s just flat.  How great for Moira that she is carrying this baby entirely in this big belly on such a petite frame!

She has been going through gelato like a madwoman but she truly craves wine and deli meats.

Once Moira gets her wine and Wawa, I expect to be getting a call so I can see this little nugget (likely with lots of black hair like Brett had as a newborn).

the feminist photographer
In my life before portrait and wedding photography, I was in graduate school for sociology. In undergrad, I didn't know what opportunities there were for sociology majors. I just loved the subject matter and had some incredible professors that I never put much thought into what would happen after graduation. I learned that the main route for sociology majors who are really into sociology is graduate school so you can make more sociologists. This was prefect as I loved being in the classroom and I was pretty good at being a student (graduated magna cum laude and a member of Phi Beta Kappa). My shtick was family and gender roles and social psy ...

the Marshalls: a Family session at Haverford College
Two Sundays ago I met up with the Marshall family at Haverford College for a photoshoot. We had Sarah and Brad and their three children: Caitlin (14), Adam (4), and Amelia (2.5). They had won the session at an auction in February at the Gladwyne Montessori School, where Adam is a student. Amelia's sweet little springtime outfit was handmade by one of Brad's realtives (I think it was his mother…).We missed out on the sunny weather that we saw a few days prior but the overcast skies made for perfect soft lighting at the gorgeous school grounds. We started out around the pond and the old weathered shack right there.I love Adam's expression and ...
