Philadelphia Newborn Photographer | Fishtown | Harper

Family

Becky and Josh’s newborn session was held on a rainy day in their Fishtown home.  The baby was less than two weeks old.  When I arrived, Becky bounded down the stairs to greet me.  I thought I must have been in the wrong house.  She moved around with complete ease.  (A total jerk, I know!)

The windowlight was perfection that day.  Soft light fell on this brand new family and I could not get enough!

Josh and Becky thought they were having a boy for sure.  Everyone thought so.  The way she carried the baby, that she didn’t lose any of her good looks, cravings, etc.  All signs pointed to boy.

And then she arrived.  Harper Vale.  A beautiful, perfect little girl.

The H in Harper came from Heather, Josh’s sister who passed away before he was born.  The V came from Becky’s great grandmother.

Becky misses running the most though I’m sure she’ll get back to it soon enough.  She ran the Broad Street Run at 19 weeks pregnant.  Josh just finished the New York City marathon.  This kid has some swift little genes!

As with all newborn sessions, there were plenty of breaks and a few demands.  I know that one does not question the model’s orders.

The pink crocheted blanket is a family heirloom.  Little Harper was the perfect fit for it.

Remember the Wombat’s maternity session from last week?  Here’s the result! The Wombat was a little boy - Charles Franklin.  He was due around Christmas and made it into the world on December 30th, just in time to ring in the new year with the family. I got my hands on his wee hands about two weeks later at their home in Mt. Airy (w00t!). Strangely, but perhaps not surprisingly, Carrie was agile and ready to get back to rowing ASAP.  I’m just going to say that she definitely didn’t have that baby.  My guess is a surrogate and a basketball.  I’m not judging but it would be great if she’d be honest with us so the rest of the new mo ...

Philadelphia Maternity Photographer | Wissahickon Park | Carrie
I have been in love with Carrie and Matt for years.  They came to me in 2011 for their engagement session and we’ve been buddies ever since.  I was thrilled to hear that they were pregnant. You know you’ve got good people when they have a dog named ‘Pierogie von Schnitzelhund.’  I mean, come on!  Rogie is a Australian Sheepdog mixed with beagle and maybe pit and she’s sweet as can be with the best ears. The four of us set out for a maternity shoot in Wissahickon Park along the Schuylkill River. Carrie realized she was pregnant when the smell of Matt’s beer made her queasy. Carrie says that she was 35 weeks pregnant at ...
