Personal

Thank you for being a regular reader of Lindsay Docherty Photography [blog] via the RSS feed! As I’m sure you know by now, Google is shutting down Google Reader on July 1st.  I’ve come to love Google Reader and am really bummed about this.  You can choose a new RSS reader and continue to subscribe to the LDP feed there.

An even easier option is to subscribe via email. If you fill out the form below, I’ll make sure you get each shiny, new post in your inbox.

Update: I was just reading through one of the blogs I often visit, La Vie Petite.  It is written by a wee thing about my size who has four kids and a fabulous fashion sense.  Most days she has posts about clothes and her children (“littles” as she calls them).
Her post today was different.  It was emotional and painful.
I am glad that she wrote it and shared with us, strangers from all parts of the world, her miscarriage.  I hope that writing it and receiving support at home and far away will give her some strength to get through it.  Personal blogging isn’t all about exhibitionism.  Some use it for purging all of the swirling, maddening thoughts and knowing that someone else out there sympathizes if not understands completely.  I am grateful for these outlets and communities.

School has started again. The days are (kinda) starting to cool off. My Pinterest is beginning to get a lot of fall outfits popping up on it. Most flowers are wilted until the next spring. The air is starting to smell differently. Baseball seasons is beginning to morph into football season. I suppose I need to face facts: summer is coming to a close.I won’t let it go down without a fight. I still relish the stray lightning bugs, lemonade, picnics, cotton dresses, A/C, and ice cream. There is still time for ice cream!  Now that I've moved my home to Chestnut Hill, come visit and we'll get some scoops at Bredenbeck's.Every month, I ...

Sure, there may be a few days of surprises (I don’t think I’ll ever forget Carolyn and Jeremy’s torrential downpour wedding) but we’re finally over this lion/lamb business and will most assuredly see real spring soon.Do you hear that? Those are birds chirping as I’m typing this. The sun is up in the mornings again. I no longer need to wear 10 layers to go outside. There are buds on everything. The crocuses came up a few weeks ago and I’m seeing daffodils everywhere. For someone who despises the cold, this is my happy time. The year is turning around and the earth is opening up. I can run outside, I can put away my sweater ...

My new favorite color: tonight’s sky
Maybe you were stuck in traffic. Or maybe you were getting the mail. Or maybe you were walking out of the grocery store. Or maybe, like me, you were out on a run. Either way, I really hope you saw tonight's fantastical, magical sky. Everything was bathed in this warm amber and all of the cooler colors looked supersaturated and dreamlike. I got home and had to get my camera to capture it.“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky.”~ Rabindranath Tagore
